Verify Social Security info.

The Social Security Administration has created the Social Security Number Verification System, an online system to verify that the Social Security numbers and names employees give to employers match and are correct on their W-2 forms.

Verifications only may occur after an employee has been hired.

Employers can sign up for this free service at www.ssa.gov/employer/ssnv.htm.
