Veridien/Mycosol to Enter Fast Growing Billion Dollar Research Laboratory Market with Proprietary Viable Nuclear Stain ``Crimson Belle'' -Patent Pending-; National Launch Planned for September 2005.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. -- Veridien Corporation (OTCBB:VRDE) announced today that its consolidated, variable interest entity, Mycosol, Inc., intends a September 2005 national launch of its "Crimson Belle(TM)" viable nuclear stain. Aimed at the fast growing billion dollar research laboratory market, "Crimson Belle(TM)" offers unique, safe, staining of live cell nuclei, permitting easy counting and real time tracking, while at the same time permitting the stain to be washed out. Since March 31, 2005, Veridien has increased its equity investment in Mycosol to approximately 36% (current capitalization) and Veridien retains the option to acquire the majority equity interest in Mycosol. The two companies have worked closely together to develop a broad life sciences platform based on Veridien's and Mycosol's combined anti-infectives technologies.

But the story of Crimson Belle(TM) involves an interesting scientific twist... or serendipity...

Mycosol was founded three years ago on the promise and potential of a proprietary, low-cost chemical technology platform, M301, aimed at safely and effectively preventing or treating microbial-induced and microbial-exacerbated problems. Mycosol has licensed the use of Burroughs Wellcome's data relating to the base chemistry M301 from their successor GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Seven (7) new Patents have been filed by Mycosol using the M301 compound. Early in the development process for its medical, veterinary, and construction material applications, Mycosol came upon an unexpected finding. During preliminary safety testing, M301 was also shown to intensely stain nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), as well as living cells without damaging those cells. Mycosol initiated a project to further develop and validate these findings and, soon after, created new reagent staining kits for use in laboratory research cell-based assays. The project demonstrated that the compound (renamed "Crimson Belle(TM)" due to its intense chromophore or red color) exhibited unique staining properties that had significant competitive advantages. For example: Crimson Belle(TM) specifically stains the nucleus of living cells and that it occurs in less than two minutes, which are unique properties. The stained cells can then be easily counted and tracked real-time. The fact that this visible nuclear stain can also be washed out after 48 hours and the same cells can be re-stained over time is also very novel.

Faced with a whole new marketplace for our core compound technology, Mycosol launched subsidiary company Elion Diagnostics to manage the potential demand.

"We knew we had a useful technology with Crimson Belle(TM)," said Jeff Selph, Elion's President and the former project manager for a large pharmaceutical company, who subsequently developed the technology platform that led to Crimson Belle(TM). The new company and product were named after Selph's mentor, scientist Gertrude Belle Elion, who won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1988. "These new commercial applications take advantage of Crimson Belle(TM)'s unique physical and chemical properties, such as its very strong attraction to a cell's nucleus, its intense red color, its cellular and biological tissue staining capability, and its safety profile for both cells and users. The reagent kits are also very stable and can be used and stored at room temperature. We're optimistic that the kits we're developing will provide tremendous benefits to the biomedical researchers who will utilize them."

Both Klein and Selph see further development of a pipeline of staining reagent products based on the Crimson Belle(TM) library of analogs, as well as eventual expansion into the clinical diagnostics market.

Concurrently, Mycosol expects to continue developing and testing its unique anti-microbial chemistry for the anti-fungal pre-treatment of building materials targeted at the multi-billion dollar construction market. And because Mycosol's lead chemical compound is supported by seven patents pending and a library of over 1,500 similar compounds, they expect to have a significant pipeline of proprietary new products in several growth markets to add to their portfolio for years to come.
