, Calif. -- Veraz Networks, Inc. announced it won a contract to expand the existing switching infrastructure for the 8th largest voice carrier Belgacom International Carrier Services (Belgacom ICS (1) (Internet Connection Sharing) A Windows feature that enables two or more computers to share one Internet connection. The Veraz ControlSwitch(TM) and I-Gate 4000 media gateways are being deployed as Belgacom ICS transitions its networks to an IP-based architecture. The main benefit of the Veraz platform is its extensive programmability provides quick and efficient integration with Belgacom ICS' existing service and OSS Oss (ôs), city (1994 pop. 62,141), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands; chartered 1399. The ControlSwitch enables Belgacom ICS to develop a roadmap of new IP-based carrier services to address the traffic shift in the industry from circuit switched to IP-based while preserving superior quality levels and a carrier-grade service availability. Belgacom ICS' first market proposition for Instant Voice will allow carriers and service providers to implement a direct VoIP interconnection and gain access to its industry leading voice trading platform.

"After a thorough evaluation of several softswitch solutions in the market, Veraz's solution was chosen for the following compelling reasons: first and foremost, 30% TCO savings per port; secondly, the flexibility to interwork with our existing multivendor switching infrastructure and; finally, the seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system.
