Veraz's Softswitch Selected by Cosmoline to Replace Legacy Switches and Expand VoIP Network; Cosmoline Adding 20,000 Switch Ports to Existing Veraz Deployment.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Veraz Networks, Inc. today announced that Cosmoline, an established Greek telecommunications carrier, is expanding its VoIP network with Veraz's ControlSwitch(TM) softswitch. Cosmoline plans to gradually replace eight of its legacy switches with a single Veraz ControlSwitch. The initial deployment order A planning directive from the Secretary of Defense, issued by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that authorizes and directs the transfer of forces between combatant commands by reassignment or attachment.  covers 20,000 VoIP ports and will expand Cosmoline's VoIP network which currently services over 50 million usage minutes monthly.

Cosmoline's network carries traffic between the major cities in Greece This is a list of cities in Greece with more than 15,000 inhabitants. The population figures do not include suburbs or adjacent municipalities ; thus, in larger cities, they encompass only the central districts rather than the wider metropolitan area.  and also internationally. See telephone switch, PBX and TDM. , which are physically large and distributed in various locations, with Veraz's centrally managed ControlSwitch, Cosmoline can leverage the ControlSwitch's smaller footprint and centralized cen·tral·ize

Cosmoline previously deployed the Veraz Long Distance Network Compression solution utilizing Veraz's I-Gate 4000 media gateways. Veraz's I-Gate 4000 media gateways can be used for both static VoIP trunking and switched VoIP services, allowing carriers like Cosmoline to migrate their legacy trunking networks to IP concurrently with or independently from their switched network migration. Once deployed, carriers can maximize the cost-efficiencies of a converged IP network by combining the I-Gate 4000 VoIP trunking capabilities with ControlSwitch switching capabilities and service delivery platform to achieve a flexible and cost-effective switched IP network.

"Over the past year, we have had a very positive experience using the Veraz gateways in our network, and working with Veraz," said Nikos Moutselos, Technical Director of Cosmoline. "We are now ready to deploy the softswitch to take our network to the next level. We will be able to offer more services, while cutting our operating costs and eliminating extra expenses associated with the operation of a traditional TDM network A network that transmits data in dedicated end-to-end circuits comprising 64 Kbps digital channels. TDM networks evolved from the analog voice networks of the telephone companies. ."

"Cosmoline is at the forefront of European carriers in providing cutting-edge telecommunications service In telecommunication, the term telecommunications service has the following meanings:

1. Any service provided by a telecommunication provider.

2.
," said Pinhas Reich, Vice President Sales, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Refers to that region of the world. For example, one might see products packaged differently for the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific markets.  and Asia Pacific, Veraz Networks. "We are very excited to take our partnership with Cosmoline to the next level and facilitate their migration efforts to a next-generation network that will reduce operating costs while supporting new revenue opportunities."
