Venture capital continues to pour into specialized information industry.

GTCR Golden Rauner LLC has committed $100 million in equity financing to back Kevin J. Condon in establishing Proximus Information Inc., a new company that will publish business-to-business magazines--both traditional and online--and operate trade shows.

Condon is presently executive vice president of Cahners Travel Group and a member of the steering committee of Cahners Business Information (whose titles include Corporate Library Update and Library Hotline newsletters).

"In addition to leading Cahners Travel Group in a significant turnaround, Kevin's prior experience as executive vice president of Advanstar Communications makes him uniquely qualified to tap into the growing potential of onlin media and business-to-business communications." Proximus' growth strategy will focus on acquisitions.

As e-commerce sparks an explosive need for business-to-business information, there's a growing amount of information available, but it's not necessarily of high quality. Proximus' magazines, online media and trade shows will emphasize quality over quantity."
