Ventas rebuffs Vencor's reconsolidation idea.

 announced a pie-in-the-sky plan for boosting revenues: remerging with Ventas, which owns the hospitals and nursing homes that Vencor runs. The two companies have been operating separately for about a year.

While industry observers agree that such a move makes sense for Vencor they doubt shareholders of Ventas, which earned $20.3 million in the first quarter, will agree to it.
