Vencor sheds bankruptcy cocoon.


The former Vencor Inc. has emerged from more than a year and a half in bankruptcy bankruptcy, in law, settlement of the liabilities of a person or organization wholly or partially unable to meet financial obligations. The purposes are to distribute, through a court-appointed receiver, the bankrupt's assets equitably among creditors and, in most  with $120 million in operating credit and a new name. The Louisville, Ky.-based chain, which operates 313 nursing homes and 56 long term care hospitals in 46 states, is now Kindred Healthcare Kindred Healthcare Incorporated (NYSE: KND) is a Fortune 500 healthcare services company located in Louisville, Kentucky.
