Angela Marcela Velasquez and Jeffrey Dennis McRae were married in the afternoon of Saturday, October 15, 2005, at the historical Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle in downtown Jackson. The ceremony was officiated by Father Brian Kaskie.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edison Velasquez. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Watson and the late Dennis McRae. He is the grandson of Mrs. Genelle McRae and the late John McRae Sr. and Mrs. Hildred Taylor and the late Paul Taylor and the late Robert Chambers.

The nuptial music was presented by organist Jimmy Scoggins and the Spanish choir directed by the bride's father. As the guests entered the Cathedral, Patricia Cuenca sang "Ave Maria" in Spanish. During the exchanging of the vows, Patricia Cuenca and Miguel Solano in duet sang the "The Prayer."

Bells chimed on the hour as the bride entered on the arm of her father. She wore an ivory, chiffon designer gown with beading falling to the asymmetrical, pleated overlay, with a flowing beaded edge. The back was also adorned with beadwork and flowed into an elegant chapel train. The bride wore a chiffon scarf accentuated with crystal beading at the bottom and carried a bouquet of orange roses and tropical flowers.

Alba Luz Vellucci, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, and Lizbeth Jimena Velasquez, also sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included friends Kabao Muli and Gloria Moncada; Melisa Munoz and Bibiana Giraldo, cousins of the bride; sister of the groom Lacey McCombs; and cousin-in-law of the bride Della Wright. Reagan Johnson, niece of the groom, assumed the flower girl duties.

Attendants of the groom included best man Kristian Pierce; friends Val Devellis and Gene Bishop; stepbrother of the groom Sam Watson; Derek McCombs, Joe Vellucci, and David Johnson, brothers-in-law of the groom; and Andres Mendez, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Connor Johnson, nephew of the groom.

Reservoir Point was the setting for the reception offered by the bride's parents following the ceremony. The guests were delighted to see the wedding cake embellished with hundreds of cascading sugar leaves inspired by the fall theme and handmade and painted by Maria Isabel Figueroa, friend of the bride's family. Guests also enjoyed music from the local band Latinismo. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents honored the couple with a seated dinner at the University Club of Jackson.

After the honeymoon trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize, the couple settled at home in downtown Brandon. The bride is a graphic designer and studio manager for Johnston Photography, and the groom is a civil engineer at Michael Baker Jr., Inc.
