Vela Pharmaceuticals Appoints Praveen Tyle, Ph.D., Senior Vice-President of Research & Development and Chief Scientific Officer at Bausch & Lomb, to Scientific Advisory Board.

 Pharmaceuticals (Vela), a privately-held company specializing in the "re-discovery and development" of nervous system medicines, announced today the election of Praveen Tyle, Ph.D. to the company's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

Dr. Tyle is an expert in pharmaceutical development and drug delivery with over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry management experience. He was recently named Senior Vice President of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at Bausch & Lomb, Inc., the global eye health company, where he directs global drug and device researchers and developers.

Prior to joining Bausch & Lomb, Dr. Tyle held management roles with such companies as Pharmacia (now Pfizer), Agouron (now Pfizer), Sandoz Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis), and American Cyanamid (now Wyeth). He has co-edited seven books about drug development and has authored over one hundred scientific papers and presentations. He also holds several patents. Dr. Tyle received his Ph.D. in Drug Delivery and Physical Pharmacy from The Ohio State University Ohio State University, main campus at Columbus; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1870, opened 1873 as Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College, renamed 1878. There are also campuses at Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark. .
