Vegetable-based slip and antiblock for PP, PE. (Keeping up with Additives).

Two new FDA-sanctioned amide slip and antiblock additives for polyolefins are said to have extremely low acid value, light color, and excellent color stability. Developed by Dover Chemical Corp., Dover, Ohio, new DoverSlip ER and OR are based on fatty unsaturated unsaturated /un·sat·u·rat·ed/ (un-sach´ur-at?ed)

Both products dissolve in resin at normal processing temperatures and migrate to the surface as the material cools. DoverSlip ER has a slower bloom rate and better heat stability than DoverSlip OR. The latter has a faster bloom rate and is more economical. DoverSlip ER reportedly shows better color stability than traditional erucamides after 30 min at 175 F.

These products also have application in PVC PVC: see polyvinyl chloride.
