Vegetable-based slip and antiblock for PP, PE. (Keeping up with Additives).Two new FDA-sanctioned amide slip and antiblock additives for polyolefins are said to have extremely low acid value, light color, and excellent color stability. Developed by Dover Chemical Corp., Dover, Ohio, new DoverSlip ER and OR are based on fatty unsaturated unsaturated /un·sat·u·rat·ed/ (un-sach´ur-at?ed) 1. not holding all of a solute which can be held in solution by the solvent. 2. denoting compounds in which two or more atoms are united by double or triple bonds. monocarboxylic acids derived from vegetable oils. They are designed to replace vegetable-based oleic o·le·ic adj. 1. Of, relating to, or derived from oil. 2. Both products dissolve in resin at normal processing temperatures and migrate to the surface as the material cools. DoverSlip ER has a slower bloom rate and better heat stability than DoverSlip OR. The latter has a faster bloom rate and is more economical. DoverSlip ER reportedly shows better color stability than traditional erucamides after 30 min at 175 F.
