Unlike the scanning tunneling microscope, which is also a scanning probe microscope, the AFM can be used on materials that do not conduct and profiler semiconductor metrology tools during the recently completed second quarter of 2000.
These systems are scheduled to be shipped to major semiconductor customers in the U.S., Taiwan, Europe and Japan by the first quarter of 2001.
