Dominus Iesus Dominus Iesus (Latin for "Jesus the Lord") is a declaration by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It was approved in a Plenary meeting of the Congregation, and bears the signature of its then Prefect, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, and of its  seeks to emphasize "the identity of Catholic doctrine and of Christian life" so that this is "better perceived and accepted by all the Catholic faithful, as the permanent and irreplaceable foundation of all authentic and genuine dialogue." Underlying many of the mistaken ideas identified by the book are the culture of relativism and the theology of religious relativism, both of which have many serious consequences (Zenit, April 24/02).
