Kammen will sing and play vielle vielle (vyĕl), bowed string instrument used throughout Europe from the 13th cent. through the 15th cent. The vielle resembles the violin, of which it is a direct precursor, but it has a longer body and five strings, one of which was used as a drone.  and medieval harp in a Vanguard Series concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Her program will include medieval English songs of love, nature and magic, as well as contemporary pieces written by UO composition students for the vielle, an early viola.

Tickets, $7 for general admission and $4 for students and senior citizens, will be sold at the door.

Kammen collaborated with singer-storyteller John Fleagle for 15 years. She performs now with groups that include Fortune's Wheel, Ephemeros, Panacea and Trouz Bras, an ensemble devoted to the dance music of Celtic Brittany.

UO vocal majors and pianists will present an art song recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Beall Hall. Admission is free.

The performance is the second in a series of three "Poetry in Song" recitals. The performers are graduate and undergraduate students of voice faculty members Ann Tedards, Mark Beudert, Milagro Vargas and Mark Kaczmarczyk.

Robertson will play at 8 p.m. Saturday. Her program will feature original works that tend toward the New Age/world music sound.

In addition, Robertson will be joined by UO harp professor Laura Zaerr and the University Harp Ensemble for some traditional Irish and Scottish tunes and other selections.

Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens.

Robertson's more than 20 recordings include two compilations on the Narada label: "Faces of the Harp" and "Celtic Treasure II."

Schroder, an internationally known Baroque violinist, will join violinist Alice Blankenship, violist Kathryn Lucktenberg and cellist Marc Vanscheeuwijck in a classical string concert on period instruments In the historically informed performance movement, musicians perform European classical music using restored or replica versions of the instruments for which it was originally written. Often performances by such musicians are said to be "on authentic instruments".  at 8 p.m. Friday.

The program includes String Quartet string quartet

Ensemble consisting of two violins, viola, and cello, or a work written for such an ensemble. Since c. 1775 such works have been perhaps the predominant genre of chamber music.

Schroder is a Baroque music Baroque music describes an era and a set of styles of European classical music which were in widespread use between approximately 1600 and 1750.[1] This era is said to begin in music after the Renaissance and was followed by the Classical music era.  expert and a pioneer in the field of historical performance practice. He has taught at the Juilliard School, Yale University, the Peabody Conservatory, the Paris Conservatory, the Sweelinck Conservatory and the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland.
