In this role, McGarahan will apply his extensive information technology (IT) support and help desk expertise to define product strategy and direction and lead marketing efforts for Vantive HelpDesk.

McGarahan joins Vantive with 12 years of experience in IT support, planning, design and development. Most recently McGarahan served as senior manager of technology planning at Taco Bell Taco Bell Corp., a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., is a Mexican-style quick service restaurant chain based in Irvine, California, United States. The restaurant has locations primarily in the United States and Canada, but also operates outlets in several other markets. , a subsidiary of PepsiCo Inc.

At Taco Bell, McGarahan was responsible for the planning, design and subsequent support of the company's technology infrastructure, which linked corporate facilities with the firm's 4,300 restaurants. In this role, McGarahan also managed the company's internal help desk that supported the executive and administrative staffs.

In addition, Software Magazine profiled McGarahan and his Taco Bell staff in its January 1996 issue, citing McGarahan's successful management of the company's help desk operations.

The publication noted his innovative efforts aimed at reducing Taco Bell's internal computing computing - computer  costs through the integration of asset management and help desk inventory applications.
