Vanguard Security CEO Ronn Bailey Secures U.S. Video Rights to Morocco off-Road Rally; For the First Time, Event Highlights to Be Telecast Following Race Now Underway in the Treacherous Moroccan Desert.LAS VEGAS -- The world-class Morocco Morocco, country, AfricaMorocco (mərŏk`ō), officially Kingdom of Morocco, kingdom (2005 est. pop. 32,726,000), 171,834 sq mi (445,050 sq km), NW Africa. Off-Road Rally, one of the world's most exciting off road competitions will be seen by U.S. race fans for the first time in a deal for the U.S. video rights secured by security industry entrepreneur and amateur racer, Ronn Bailey.The desert race, with some of the world's top European Off Road car, truck and motorcycle drivers, started May 24 and ends on May 29th. Bailey is in the process of finalizing negotiations to air an hour-long special. Neveu Pelletier Organisation (www.npo.fr http://www.npo.fr) owns the race and retains worldwide video rights for the Morocco Rally, which has run for the past six years. Terms were not disclosed. The five-day race course forms a long oval along the Atlantic coast of Morocco coast from Agadir Agadir (ägädēr`, ăgədēr`), city (1994 pop. 155,244), SW Morocco, on the Atlantic Ocean. Agadir has metal-processing industries and exports fruit and vegetables. through Oued Chebika to Laayoune and back to Agadir -- all southwest of the famous cities Casablanca and Marrakesh Marrakesh, Morocco: see Marrakech.. This year, the race will prohibit Global Positioning Systems (GPS) on five navigational stages, returning to the origins of cross-country rally. "There is a growing interest in off-road racing in the U.S. and the Morocco Rally is one of the most exciting events, with treacherous mountain and desert terrain, sandstorms sandstorm, strong dry wind blowing over the desert that raises and carries along clouds of sand or dust often so dense as to obscure the sun and reduce visibility almost to zero; also known as a duststorm. Such a wind is usually the result of convection currents created by intense heating of the ground., and fierce competitors, says Ronn Bailey. "It's an event that plays well on TV and will help build even greater interest in this incredible sport." Bailey, an amateur driver, is the only American driver (#235) in the Morocco Rally and is so far in 27th place after the first leg, despite his rookie status. His only other off-road race was the 2005 Dakar, a 7,000 mile course over 15 days from Barcelona to Senegal and he plans to enter the 2006 event as well.
