Vanguard Managed Solutions (VanguardMS) today announced a new addition to its award-winning Vanguard 340 series of multi-service IP access routers. The Vanguard 342 is a flexible, easily-managed product that simplifies network connectivity between remote sites. This product is ideal for small to mid-sized offices and stores seeking to adopt and migrate to new IP/VPN services.

"As our managed network solutions business grows, we are continuing to develop platforms that expand the types of solutions we can offer our customers," said Mike Pinto pinto

, COO of VanguardMS. "The Vanguard 342 is the perfect example -- a product designed to increase scalability and security while still being affordable, supporting our strategy to provide advanced managed network solutions around the globe."

With its modular and flexible architecture, the Vanguard 342 provides a cost effective and high performance e-business platform for enterprise customers such as retailers and banks. The Vanguard 342's multi-service routing capabilities allow a remote site to converge voice, video and data on the same network, thus reducing WAN communications costs. Additionally, with strong encryption An encryption method that uses a very large number as its cryptographic key. The larger the key, the longer it takes to unlawfully break the code. Today, 256 bits is considered strong encryption. As computers become faster, the length of the key must be increased.  and VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  features, the Vanguard 342 permits rapid adoption of new IP services whereby customers can securely communicate and connect between remote sites. With its high performance architecture, the Vanguard 342 allows customers to enable multiple applications such as encryption, high speed routing, IP Quality of Service (QoS) and integrated voice applications without any degradation in bandwidth or performance of the application itself. For example, a retail store using a Vanguard 342 can route Point of Sale applications, sales updates, telephone calls and video from security cameras without being required to buy more bandwidth.

"In order to trim costs, yet use new technologies to improve operational efficiency, businesses need networking equipment that is functional, flexible and expandable to accommodate future needs," said Sultan Dawood, Director of Product Line Management for VanguardMS. "Businesses with several remote sites that are required to convert legacy protocols, use less expensive telecom services and want to eventually migrate to newer Internet Protocol See Internet and TCP/IP.

The Vanguard 342's Competitive Advantage
