Vandals are spending a busy summer.

This summer, it has also been a log of vandalism The intentional and malicious destruction of or damage to the property of another.

The intentional destruction of property is popularly referred to as vandalism. It includes behavior such as breaking windows, slashing tires, spray painting a wall with graffiti, and
 and other problems in the park as noted by members of the Friends of the Alan E. Rich Park.

The park, on South Main Street near the South Main Street Bridge over the Millers River, is one of several places plagued by vandalism this summer.

At Rich Park, someone has gone around destroying wooden signs made to let visitors know the names of some of the flowers and trees Flowers and Trees was a 1932 Silly Symphonies cartoon produced by Walt Disney, directed by Burt Gillett, and released to theatres by United Artists on July 30, 1932.  there. The signs were broken off, forcing volunteers to work all summer maintaining and improving the town-owned park.

The entire town has been experiencing vandalism this summer. The Athol Veterans Park at South Main and Exchange Streets has had one of the more unusual problems. Throughout the summer, someone has repeatedly contaminated contaminated,

Athol Police Sgt. Christopher Casella said there have been graffiti at various parks and public buildings. One of the worst hit has been the former Athol Middle School, which is closed and awaiting new owners. Graffiti have also been reported at Silver Lake Park, Lake Ellis, the Uptown Common bandstand and a town water storage tank.

Two minors have been arrested for several of the incidents and are awaiting trial in Orange District Court.

The vandalism at the former Middle School includes extensive graffiti damage and broken windows. Yesterday, 11 windows were found with holes as small as those made by BBs, and some were completely broken.

Mr. Walsh said there has not been an exceptional amount of vandalism this year, but it has been ongoing through the summer. He said some of the graffiti is complicated artwork.

"How do they have this much time, and how do they not get noticed?" he said.

Mr. Walsh said the vandals have not just hit town property. He said they have taken to spray painting on private property as well. He said one business had just installed new siding when it was hit.
