Vance Publishing sells four titles to new company.


One Grower Publishing (Collierville, TN), a new company formed by Mike Lamensdorf, current vice president of agribusiness trade association Delta Council (Cleveland, MS), has acquired four agricultural magazines from Vance Publishing Corp. (Lincolnshire, IL), including 'Cotton Farming,' 'Rice Farming,' 'Peanut Grower' and 'Soybean South.' No terms of the deal were given.

'Cotton Farming' is produced for 30,000 cotton growers and related industry professionals in the cotton farming, consulting, ginning and marketing industries. Circulation includes farmers, landowners, crop consultants, chemical/fertilizer dealers, commercial applications, custom harvesters, equipment dealers and chemical and seed companies. It was established in 1957 and is produced 13 times a year. Established in 1999, 'Peanut Grower' is produced nine times a year for the peanut farming industry, including farmers and affiliated agribusinesses. It has a controlled circulation of 17,700. 'Rice Farming' was established in 1967 and is published seven times a year for professionals in the rice farming and allied industries, including rice growers, crop consultants, county/ extension agents, chemical companies, seed companies and applicators ap·pli·ca·tor (pl-k. It has a controlled circulation of 8700. 'Soybean South' was targeted to soybean growers in southern U.S. states and has been closed by One Grower.

Vance president Peggy Walker said the sale 'was part of our mission to continue to position Vance as the optimum b2b information and communication resource in the markets we serve. It allows us to place all of our food-value chain products under one umbrella and to accelerate our overall growth strategy.' Remaining Vance crop, produce and food titles include 'Dealer & Applicator,' 'The Grower,' 'Citrus & Vegetable,' 'Dairy Herd Management,' 'Bovine Veterinarian,' 'Meat & Seafood Merchandising' and 'Food Systems Insider,' among others.
