Vance Publishing acquires Doane Agricultural Services.

Vance Publishing (Lincolnshire, IL) has acquired all the assets of Doane Agricultural Services (St. Louis, MO), a producer of a range of agricultural economic advisory products, a daily live radio program, e-newsletters, seminars and "Ag Professional" and "Ag Lender" magazines. No terms of the deal were given.

"Ag Professional" is published ten times a year for a paid circulation of 28,000 fertilizer and crop protection retailers, independent crop consultants, professional farm managers, certified crop advisors and related industry professionals. An annual subscription costs $40. Content covers such topics as in-field technologies, specialty chemicals, water management, new equipment, seeds, fertilizers, agri-finance, operations and farm management.

"Ag Lender" is published monthly for a paid circulation of 900 providers of agricultural credit, including professionals at commercial banks, farm credit system loan officers and corporate agribusinesses financial officers. Content includes coverage of ag lending programs for borrowers and lenders, ag credit analysis, risk management techniques and new ag lending tools. An annual subscription costs $179.

Other products include AgServ, a forecasting service for agribusiness that covers U.S. crop acreage, livestock numbers and prices, and analysis of more than 90 crop and four livestock categories, "Doane's Agricultural Report," a weekly farm marketing advisory service, "Doane's Commercial Advisor," a weekly service for large companies involved in agribusiness, "Farming for Profit," a monthly newsletter, the "AgriTalk" daily radio program and custom publishing services for agricultural publishers.

"Ag Professional" will be merged with Vance's "Dealer & Applicator," a magazine launched in 1970 and produced 11 times a year for 22,000 ag retail trade professionals. The combined title will retain the "Ag Professional" name and will be published monthly. The acquisition is in keeping with Vance's long-term expansion goals, according to Vance president Peggy Walker. "We are actively seeking similar opportunities that will bring additional benefits to our client base and broaden our product scope. Our solid financial footing allows us to explore opportunities of growth by acquisition as well as through expansion of existing product lines."
