In 2000, he was part of the editorial team awarded first place honors by the Los Angeles Press Club for a series on the Pasadena economy. Before that, Schaff spent three years running the San Gabriel Valley group's copy and news desk. "Jason is a real pro who brings a solid understanding of business as well as a keen interest in the local business community," said Pegi Matsuda, the newspaper's publisher. At the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, Schaff will direct all editorial functions, including news gathering and analysis, and act as the paper's liaison with the business community. "I'm looking forward to working with a growing newspaper and taking it to its next level," said Schaff. Schaff is a 20-year resident of the Valley who has lived in Studio City for the last 10 years. A native of Lunenburg, Mass., just outside of Boston, Schaff holds a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University Kansas State University, main campus at Manhattan; coeducational; land-grant and state supported; chartered and opened 1863. There is an additional campus at Salina. Among the university's research facilities are the J. R. and a master's in mass communication from Cal State Northridge.
