Valencia's regional government has invested 100 million euro to get the studio under way, and private investors are expected to pick up the rest of the tab. Critics of the project wonder if Spain can compete with studios in Hollywood and London, where wages are higher. But government officials have countered that the project is already bearing fruit, with the gross domestic product growing faster than average and employment numbers up.
