) announced today that it has appointed Michael Karin, Ph.D. to its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Karin joins current members, Francis V. Chisari, M.D., David D. Ho, M.D., James E. Niedel, M.D., Ph.D. and Roberts A. Smith, Ph.D.

"Dr. Karin was recently elected a member of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences by his peers for the quality and depth of his research in the scientific community."

Dr. Karin is the Professor of Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego UCSD is consistently ranked among the top ten public universities for undergraduate education in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.[3] It is a Public Ivy. [1] For graduate studies, most of UCSD's Ph.D. . He has published more than 320 papers and was ranked 12th among the world's most cited scientists in Science Watch, 2003. In 1993, Dr. Karin co-founded Signal Pharmaceuticals and in May 2005 was elected a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Karin made seminal contributions to the discipline of cellular signal transduction pathways and is a world authority on NF-kB signaling due to his discovery of the upstream IkB kinase (IKK IKK Ikappa B kinase
