announced their selection as project manager for the $160 million renovation of New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the  Hospitals Center in Midtown Manhattan.

The multi-phase project will include renovations and expansions to the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Units, amongst others.

In addition to these renovations, VVA will assist in scheduling, budgeting and the logistical planning of the overall project, which includes renovation work on several other departments. NYU NYU New York University

is currently out to bid for construction on the majority of the project and is awaiting Certificate of Needs approvals from the Department of Health.

"Our extensive knowledge, combined with our technical skills and broad experience in project management, enables us to grasp the full scope and implications of our clients' requirements and intent," explained Dana Panzarino, managing director of VVA and project manager for NYUHC.

"We serve as an extension of each client's own staff, providing professional guidance throughout the project and expediting the process while minimizing the effort on our client's resources."

The overall project, otherwise known as the "Immediate Hospital Facility Plan" is based on NYU Medical Center's desire to address immediate needs over the next three years, and will serve as a bridge towards a new replacement facility in the future. The plan focuses on critical departments in the hospital with the aim to alleviate capacity constraints and to increase patient throughput and market share. The key departmental areas in the plan are the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, the Operating Suite and an Ambulatory Cardiac Center The cardiac center is part of the medulla oblongata responsible for controlling the heart rate. . Other projects in the plan include an Ambulatory Surgery Center ambulatory surgery center A free-standing center that performs various types of surgery  and system wide infrastructure improvements.

and operating above capacity. Current hospital planning standards call for 2 visits a square foot and therefore, would require an Emergency Department of 15,000SE The ED project will be built in five (5) phases and will involve the renovation of some existing space and the construction of a new one (1) story building extension.

The existing Intensive Care Unit on Tisch 15 East has not been significantly upgraded since its original installation 45 years ago. While innovative at the time of its design, the unit has not kept up with the technological changes as critical care medicine has evolved. The ICU ICU intensive care unit.

will be completely renovated and double its current footprint on the 15th floor of Tisch Hospital. A two-phase process will enable the ICU to be in operation during construction.

As a part of this scope of work, infrastructure upgrades are needed to provide code compliant HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) In the home or small office with a handful of computers, HVAC is more for human comfort than the machines. In large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is essential for the trouble-free , power, and medical gas systems. In order to expand the ICU into Tisch 15 West, a series of phasing moves are necessary to relocate existing units.
