VOLUNTEERS SET TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Hundreds of San Fernando Valley volunteers are expected to get up early and make a difference Saturday by doing everything from sweeping litter-strewn streets and delivering toys and clothes to the needy.

Volunteering as part of the annual Make a Difference Day, a national effort encouraging community service, local residents can take part in a variety of events.

Among the events in the region:

Fall Restoration Day at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas. For information, call (818) 591-1701 or go to www.mountainstrust.org.

Gathering of donations of nonperishable food, clothing, toys, linens and other items for the needy by the VFW No. 2805 Ladies Auxiliary in Canoga Park. For information, call (818) 347-3851.

A daylong teen peace conference in Burbank. For information call (818) 919-8896 or go to www.myspace.com/youthbgp.

More than 25 projects throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. For information, visit the Volunteer Resource Center of Santa Clarita Valley at www.volunteerinscv.org.
