 will be honored at a luncheon today, when the field will be narrowed to five finalists.

Nominations for the Fernando Award are open to people who reflect a lifetime of volunteerism and make it a priority to raise the quality of life in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
. Nominees are chosen by organizations, chambers of commerce, elected officials and past award recipients.

The Fernando Award Foundation is scheduled to hold its Jesse McHann Award Luncheon today at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St., at 11:30 a.m. After the 16 nominees have been presented, five semifinalists will be chosen. So far, 400 people are slated to attend.

The foundation, which administers the awards program, was founded in 1959.
