VOLUNTEERS AT HEART DUO LEADS AUTRY TOURS.Byline: - Kimberly Armendariz Retired? This couple doesn't know the meaning of the word. Howard and his wife, Lee, have as much trouble juggling their schedules as a college student with a job, not to mention a social life. Both are docents at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, where they give tours every Thursday from September through June. To be docents, the Finks made a one-year commitment, attended a training course and continue to take part in ongoing education. And the Finks have been giving tours for the last 10 years. Many of their tours are for kids on field trips. ``It's important to give back,'' says Lee. ``We're teaching these kids, so by volunteering, we're giving as well as receiving.'' When they're not at the museum, they attend Elderhostels. It's like ``sleep-away camp'' for retired persons filled with lectures, films and activities. They'll be going on their 25th trip in March. Howard is also the bus tour chairman for the Las Angelitas del Pueblo, a group that gives tours of downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or , emphasizing the history and development of the city. Lee works at the Getty House The Getty House is the official residence of the Mayor of Los Angeles, California, USA. It is located at 605 S. Irving Boulevard in Windsor Square, a neighborhood just east of the Hancock Park district, and located approximately five miles WNW of Los Angeles City Hall. , the city's mayoral residence, and gives tours and civic lessons to fourth-graders every Wednesday morning. Why do they keep so busy? ``I want to get out of her hair,'' Howard says. On a more serious note, he says, ``We don't want to sit around; (watching) television is terrible. We like to learn new things and meet interesting people.'' AGE: Howard, 72; Lee, 71 RESIDENCE: Valley Glen INTERESTS: The Finks collect antique antique. She also attends a water exercise class two nights a week, while Howard tries to make it to the gym at least three days a week.
