VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN SCHEDULED BY NISSAN

VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN SCHEDULED BY NISSAN
CARSON, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan Motor Corporation in

U.S.A., distributor of Nissan cars and trucks, announced today a voluntary recall on approximately 1,500 1993 Quest minivans in two unrelated campaigns.
Nissan reported that approximately 1,500 Quest vehicles are being recalled to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the bolts that secure the front automatic seat belt system tracks to the B-pillar.
In addition, approximately 500 of these same vehicles may have a brake master cylinder that may have been improperly assembled, which could lead to reduced brake effectiveness.
Nissan is aware of no customer complaints, accidents or injuries related to either of these conditions. These potential concerns were discovered during intensive quality inspections at the assembly plant.
Owners of affected vehicles will be officially notified of the safety recall in letters to be mailed Sept. 29. However, on Sept. 18, Nissan regional personnel began making personal phone calls to notify each affected vehicle owner about the impending recall and arrange for the necessary repairs.
In an unprecedented effort, Nissan dealers are authorized to send a technician to the owner's home or place of employment to make the necessary modifications to the seat belt track.
For owners of vehicles requiring the brake recall, Nissan is offering to arrange for their vehicles to be picked up at the owner's home or place of employment, repaired at the dealership, and delivered back to the owner -- in many cases on the same day.
To further reduce customer inconvenience, free loaner cars will be provided to any customers desiring one while his/her vehicle is undergoing this recall. Of course, if they prefer, owners may take their vehicles to a Nissan dealership themselves for performance of the recall.
None of the recalled vehicles have been sold in Canada.
