VOLKSWAGEN SELECTS OEA/MORTON HYBRID INFLATOR

DENVER, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Ahmed D. Kafadar, chairman and chief executive officer of OEA Inc. (NYSE: OEA), the Denver-based, high- technology manufacturer of aerospace and automotive safety products, announced that the OEA/Morton Team was selected by Volkswagen for supplying Hybrid inflators for passenger-side air bags beginning in model year 1996 and increasing in volume during the next several years. With the Chrysler and Ford orders previously received and announced, this new, large order establishes the OEA/Morton Team as the major supplier of Hybrid inflators. Kafadar stated that OEA's Hybrid operations, with a current capacity of two million units per year, are already in production; delivery of the Chrysler inflators will begin before the end of 1993. Additional capacity for Hybrid inflators will be provided at the OEA/Pyrospace subsidiary, Pyroindustrie, in Les Mureaux, France (25 miles northwest of Paris).
OEA is the leading supplier of air bag initiators, and a leader in the field of propellant-actuated devices used in personnel escape systems of military aircraft, missiles, and for space applications.
