VNU agrees to acquire Radio & Records, Inc.

VNU Business Media (New York) has entered into an agreement to acquire Radio & Records, Inc. (R&R; Los Angeles, CA), a news and information company serving the U.S. radio and records industries. VNU expects the transaction, terms of which were not given, to close by August 1, 2006.

R&R is an information company serving decision makers in the radio and records industries and offers a variety of print, online, research, convention and seminar products, including "R&R: The Industry Newspaper," a weekly print title, "R&R Today," a daily fax or e-mail summary of industry news, "Street Talk Daily" for programmers and label executives, the "R&R Headlines and Ratings Update" daily e-mail, "Manager's Minute," a wekkly e-mail for general managers, sales managers and marketing directors, and related directories and online alerts. The company was established in 1973.

VNU Business Media president Michael Marchsano said the deal "is in line with VNU's strategy to further strengthen its services to the radio and record industries," noting that VNU's Billboard Information Group includes "Billboard" magazine, Neilsen BDS and Neilsen SoundScan.
