VMETRO to Demo SAN-Capable Data Recorders at International Telemetering Conference.

HOUSTON & OSLO, Norway -- VMETRO, the premier provider of products for high-speed sensor I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

I/O - Input/Output
, data recording and bus analysis, today announced that the company will showcase its newest SAN-capable data recorders, the Open-Marlin 22XA and Open-MDR 822, at the International Telemetering Conference being held this year at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center, Oct. 18-21, 2004, in San Diego.

Open-Marlin is an all-in-one, PC-based, rack mountable data recorder which uses Windows XP and is available for benign environments. Open-MDR is a VME-based data recorder available for both benign and harsh environments. Both the Open-Marlin and Open-MDR are designed to be easily integrated into data acquisition systems and are ideal for applications requiring multiple high-bandwidth streams of data to be recorded and reproduced in real-time, such as those found in telemetry, surveillance and signal intelligence systems. In addition, both data recorders implement VMETRO's new "Open Programming Environment for Data Recording" toolkit and are thus particularly well-suited for recording data in special purpose formats such as that specified by IRIG IRIG Inter-Range Instrumentation Group (Range Commanders Council)
IRIG Inertial Reference Integrating Gyro
106 Chapter 10, a format rapidly becoming dominant in the telemetry industry. As with all VMETRO data recorders, flexible Fibre Channel SAN technology is utilized, allowing associated data recording environments to be easily expanded without performance degradation.

The demonstration at the International Telemetering Conference will utilize an Open-Marlin data recorder, an Open-MDR data recorder, four JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) A group of hard disks in a computer that are not set up as any type of RAID configuration. They are just a bunch of disks.

JBOD - Just a Bunch Of Disks
(Just a Bunch Of Disk) arrays and a Fibre Channel switch In a computer storage field, a Fibre Channel switch is a network switch compatible with Fibre Channel (FC) protocol. It allows the creation of a Fibre Channel fabric, that is currently the core component of most storage area networks.  to show the following:

--Simultaneous data recording and reproduction at sustained rates greater than 360 MB/s per channel

--True SAN functionality and scaling

--Disk grouping and virtualization

--Remote management

--Interoperability with LabView

VMETRO will be co-located with BiTMICRO in booth 208 of the Grand Ballroom. Visitors are welcome to come and see the demo and, while they are there, sign up for our free drawing. VMETRO will be giving away ten USB USB
 in full Universal Serial Bus

Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer.
Flash Memory Drives a month through November.

In other news, VMETRO announced the acquisition of Transtech DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  on Oct. 4, 2004. Copies of the press release and other information will be available at the booth.
