VIVO Selects Starent Networks for its Mobile Wireless Network; Company Cites Innovation and Service Flexibility as Winning Criteria.

Starent Networks Corporation today announced that it has won a major contract from VIVO (Video In Video Out) Refers to a display adapter with analog video capture and analog video out (NTSC out) capabilities. As a result, VIVO is South America's largest mobile operator with 17 million subscribers. The company provides network coverage for almost 90% of Brazil's geographic area and 73% of its population.

The selection of Starent Networks for a key element of its CDMA2000 1X data core network further demonstrates Starent Networks' emergence as a leading provider of next generation IP networking equipment for the mobile wireless market.

Starent Networks ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway

The Starent ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway is designed specifically for the mobile environment. The ST16 is the gateway between the wireless network and core IP network. This system offers enhanced mobility, multimedia service delivery, high capacity, flexible billing, carrier-class reliability and a clear migration to an all-IP network.

Furthermore, the ST16 is unique in its ability to provision data, voice and integrated voice and data, moving the mobile network to a truly next generation architecture.
