VIVE L'MUSIQUE! AVC WILL CELEBRATE FRENCH SONG, DANCE.

LANCASTER - Music and dance will be featured in a celebration of the diverse cultures of 53 French-speaking nations.

Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  will host its first Francophone Music Festival from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

Western African dances, traditional French love songs and rock songs sung in French are among the performances slated to take place in the cafeteria and surrounding areas of the campus, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

The event is organized by AVC (1) (Advanced Video Coding) The video compression techniques used in the H.264 standard, jointly developed by ISO and the ITU-T. See H.264.

 French instructor Marthe Aponte, who wants people to see beyond France when they think of French-speaking culture.

Professional acts will anchor the evening portion of the program in the cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. when fiddler and storyteller Daniel Glossberg does his one-man show, ``Pierre Cruzatte Private Pierre Cruzatte was a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He was of French and Omaha tribe Indian heritage. He enlisted with Lewis and Clark on May 16, 1804, at St. Charles, Missouri. : A Musical Journey Along the Lewis and Clark Trail.''

That will be followed at 7 p.m. by Ginger de Paris singing traditional French songs such as ``La vie en rose'' and ``L'Hymne - l'Amour.''

 Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in , will lead musicians in a performance of classical French music before the arrival of Lucien Kouassi and Jamallad at 8:30 p.m.

Kouassi and Jamallad, a group that has toured extensively in the United States, West Africa and Europe, will perform music from west French African countries such as Zaire, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.

``Jamallad is at the forefront of a new wave of international consciousness that is sweeping over the music scene,'' said Aponte.

The first live performance starts at noon in the Fine Arts Quad with ``Baroque Parade,'' costumed dancers under the direction of Cindy Littlefield, performing western African dances as they roam the campus.

That will be followed by individual and group music performances from 1-4:30 p.m. including the rock group Airplanes, the Antelope Valley High School Antelope Valley High School is located in Lancaster, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District.
