Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's healthcare through voluntary accreditation. VITAS, the nation's leading provider of hospice services, received the accreditation award after the Joint Commission found that the program demonstrates compliance with national standards of excellence for hospice organizations.

"Earning accreditation shows that we make a significant investment in quality for our patients and families on a day-to-day basis," said Keith Becker, General Manager of VITAS' San Antonio program. "We seek accreditation because we want only the best for those we care for, and we view obtaining accreditation as another step toward excellence."
