VINDICATOR, INC. RELEASES THIRD-QUARTER RESULTS

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Vindicator, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIFL) today released its operating results for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, 1993. Vindicator, a company still in its developmental stage, reported revenues of $36,640 for the quarter, as compared to $19,154 for the comparative period in 1992.
The operating losses for the quarter were $73,816, as compared to operating losses of $66,762 for the same period in 1992. Net loss for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993 was $324,810, against an operating loss in the same period last year of $299,989. Net loss per share was $0.10 per share in both quarters.
Sam Whitney, chairman and chief executive officer, said the loss for the quarter was not unexpected given the continuing delay in approval of a packaging tray for poultry by the Food and Drug Administration. Despite these delays, he said test market sales of irradiated poultry that was processed and shipped to retail outlets in Chicago, Miami and Plant City, Fla., proved very promising. "Sales were brisk," he added.
Whitney said the meat and poultry processors have also taken a very aggressive approach to determining consumer acceptance of irradiated foods. This action, he added, followed the report of several positive studies conducted for the American Meat Institute.
Vindicator, Inc. operates the nation's first and only food irradiation processing plant in Mulberry, Fla. Through the use of irradiation, it can control disease in food and meats, thus extending the shelf life of its products.
