ViewSonic Corporation, a provider of advanced display technologies, has launched its first flat-screen monitor -- the PT795. This 19-inch (18-inch viewable) high-performance display features the company's new PerfectFlat SonicTron CRT, which produces perfectly flat, colorful, life-like images. The PT795 is also one of the company's first monitors to be TCO '99 certified, adhering to the world's strictest ecology, ergonomics, energy and emissions guidelines. The PerfectFlat SonicTron CRT featured in the PT795 significantly reduces the glare of ambient lighting. Unlike the curved screen surface of a traditional display that reflects overhead lights toward the user, the flat-screen unit minimizes glare and reflection, reducing user eyestrain and fatigue. Also, an advanced ARAG anti-static, anti-glare screen treatment complements the PT795 flat screen by refracting additional light from the user while maintaining a sharp, bright image. The new unit features an ultra-fine 0.25-0.27mm variable aperture grille pitch, an industry leading 30 to 110kHz horizontal scan range, a flicker-free resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 87Hz, and a maximum non-interlaced resolution of 1920 x 1440. Users can select and adjust multiple settings including brightness, contrast, and ViewMatch color, as well as select between two separate input connectors. Offered at a suggested retail price of $1,075 and an estimated street price of $999, the PT795 is compatible with PC, Macintosh, and high-resolution third-party graphics standards. The PT795 is backed by a three-year parts and labor warranty and is eligible for ViewSonic's optional Express Exchange Service, which guarantees a replacement monitor within 48 hours.
