 failure, Viewpoint High School's baseball team is just two wins from its first-ever appearance in the Southern Section Division VI final.

Both teams have momentum. Viewpoint is coming off a dramatic 6-5 win over arch-rival L.A. Lutheran. Viewpoint overcame a 5-1 deficit against L.A. Lutheran. Sheffield's fifth-inning homer to center field - his fifth - cut the lead to 5-4. Kareem Shaarwy won it with his run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh.

``It was great,'' Sheffield said. ``We were all jumping around and hugging each other.''

Until this year, no Viewpoint team in any sport had won a CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF).  playoff game.

``Winning that game was like a shot in the arm,'' Viewpoint coach Frank Pontello said.
