VIEWPOINT MAKES IT A THREE-PEAT ANOTHER DIV. V TITLE FOR PATRIOTS.

Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News

CLAREMONT -- Troy List needed a little more than an hour to win his three sets Wednesday.

The junior had to wait through another nerve-racking hour before Viewpoint High of Calabasas won its third consecutive Southern Section Div. V boys' tennis title.

Behind a dominant singles effort from List, Arjun Kolachalam and Eric Leidersdorf, and equal parts grit and determination from their doubles teams, the Patriots recorded an 11-7 victory over rival Cate of Carpinteria at The Claremont Club.

. I haven't completely processed it yet,'' said List, who helped No. 2 Viewpoint atone for a 10-8 loss March 3 to top-seeded Cate (16-5), a match he and two other Patriots didn't compete in. ``After we've overcome everything we have and bonded as one, to be able to three-peat is really special.''

``I was completely nervous for the seniors,'' List said. ``After four years, I didn't want it to end like that. But knowing we came back from 8-7 down to win three straight is huge.''

List found himself in a similar, but less stressful, situation Wednesday. After he and Kolachalam were the catalysts in Viewpoint winning the opening six sets and eight of the first 11, List had to wait for his teammates to clinch Clinch, river, c.300 mi (480 km) long, formed by the junction of two forks in SW Va., and flowing generally SW across E Tenn. to the Tennessee River at Kingston.  the title.

Leidersdorf gave the Patriots their ninth victory with a 6-1 triumph over Erik Hayden -- increasing the team's advantage to 35 games with four sets remaining. Seniors Reed Lerner and Todd Snyder cemented the Patriots' place in area history with a 6-3 win over Daniel Choi and Will Geiger.

``As a senior, to hit a service winner on match point, that had to feel unbelievable,'' said List, who stormed the court with coach Asif Azhar to congratulate his teammates. ``Seeing the smile on (Lerner's) face meant everything.''

Said Snyder, one of six seniors on Viewpoint's roster: ``It hasn't really hit me yet. I can't imagine not coming out and playing tennis (today). To say I'm elated e·lat·ed
