VIEWLOGIC DELIVERS VIEWTEST TOOLS FOR TESTING COMPLEX ASIC DESIGNS

Full Integration of Sunrise Products into Powerview Environment
rounds out Viewlogic's ASIC design solution
BALTIMORE, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Viewlogic Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIEW) today announced immediate availability of its ViewTest(TM) tool suite for automating generation of highly efficient and compact manufacturing test programs for ASIC designs. Viewlogic demonstrated ViewTest, fully integrated into its Powerview(R) UNIX-based electronic design automation (EDA) environment, at the International Test Conference here.
ViewTest comprises a set of sequential test tools that work together to dramatically improve design testability, shorten the design time of ASIC designers, increase product quality and decrease testing costs. Based on technology from Sunrise Test Systems Inc., a Viewlogic strategic partner, ViewTest offers tight integration to, and the same easy-to-use graphical interface as all Powerview tools.
"By delivering this fully integrated, functionally rich test suite, Viewlogic rounds out its compliment of ASIC design products, from design capture through simulation, synthesis and test," said Roland Mattison, ViewTest product marketing manager. "It also marks the completion of a successful technology integration initiative based on leading-edge tools from our strategic partner, Sunrise Systems."
The integration of Sunrise's TestGen products into Powerview was greatly simplified and accelerated thanks to Viewlogic's CFI (CAD Framework Initiative)-oriented framework, OpenFrame(TM), which enables EDA developers and users to create an open design environment into which best-in-class tools can be incorporated far more quickly and easily than traditional proprietary EDA environments.
Tools available within ViewTest include testability analysis and design rule checking, automatic test pattern generation (ATPG), fault simulation, test synthesis, vector compaction, Iddq test generation and ASIC vendor interface kits. Utilizing sequential ATPG algorithms and heuristics, ViewTest removes the typical test constraints that burden design engineers. ViewTest provides high fault coverage while minimizing the need for scan circuitry. The product handles combinational and sequential logic, synchronous and asynchronous circuits, ASICs and full-custom ICs, and low- and high-complexity chips including those with embedded functions such as RAM.
Pricing for ViewTest starts at $75,000 for a complete system. It is available from Viewlogic's direct sales organization in North America and Europe and from Viewlogic distributors worldwide.
Founded in 1984, Viewlogic Systems, Inc. is a worldwide provider of electronic design automation solutions. Viewlogic's unique, standards-based OpenFrame framework that enables engineers to create an open design environment, its software for UNIX- and Microsoft Windows-based computing platforms, and its broad range of support services enables electrical engineers to design state-of-the-art electronic products more efficiently, reducing development cost and speeding time to market.
