VICTOR B. DICKSON NAMED TO HEAD SPRINT GROUP IN GREAT LAKES AREA

CHICAGO, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced the appointment of Victor B. Dickson to the post of vice president and general manager of the Great Lakes Area in Sprint's Business Market Group (BMG).
In assuming command of the Great Lakes Area, Dickson, 36, will oversee a six-state area that includes Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. He will oversee a sales and administrative force of more than 250 individuals. He joins four other vice presidents within BMG, each of whom is responsible for a section of the United States.
Sprint's Business Market Group provides a full range of long- distance voice, data and video solutions to medium and large businesses and national accounts across the nation. It does so through an employee force that is divided among five geographic areas.
A native of Chicago, Dickson will be returning to his hometown with this appointment, since the Great Lakes Area is headquartered there.
"Victor Dickson brings an ideal mix of both mid-market and national account experience to this job along with an extensive knowledge of the region," said Kevin E. Brauer, president of the Business Market Group. "This background, coupled with his leadership and management skills, makes him the ideal person for this job."
Since 1990, Dickson has been a regional director within the Great Lakes Area, based in Cincinnati. He joined Sprint in 1987 in Chicago, where he worked both as a regional director and a branch manager in the National Accounts Division.
Prior to joining Sprint, Dickson worked four years with AT&T. He also worked for three years as an account executive with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Kansas City, Mo. Before beginning his telecommunications career, Dickson worked as the director of administration and services for the Economic Opportunity Foundation in Kansas City, Kan., from 1978 to 1980.
Dickson succeeds Patti Manuel, who was promoted earlier this year to the post of president of Sprint's Business Services Group, which markets long-distance services to small business customers.
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with more than $10 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, local telephone services to nearly 6 million subscriber lines in 19 states, and cellular operations that serve 42 metropolitan markets and more than 50 rural service areas.
