(NYSE:VAS) announced today that it has come together with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) to provide a Satellite Symposium at the 53rd ACSM Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. MDT titled: Importance of Quality Control Studies Prior to Using Automated Systems for the Measurements of Oxygen Uptake in Exercise Science.

Professor Per-Olof Astrand of Karolinska Institute will chair this symposium and presents a historic overview about the measurement techniques of oxygen uptake during physical activity since the 18th century. Professor Astrand is the author of the Textbook of Work Physiology, a worldwide accepted reference about the physiological bases of exercise, first published in 1970.

Hans Rosdahl, University College of Physical Education and Sport; Lennart Gullstrand, Swedish Sports Confederation; and Christopher J. Gore, FACSM, Australian Institute of Sport will be a part of this historic ACSM event. Additional topics will include validation studies for the Jaeger Oxycon Mobile portable metabolic exercise system, and a review of dynamic calibrations of in-house cardiopulmonary exercise systems.
