VIASOFT and IBS Conversions to provide year 2000 solutions for AS/400 market.
Under the terms of the agreement, VIASOFT will incorporate IBS' year 2000 date analysis and scanning services for companies with AS/400 into VIASOFT's Enterprise 2000(SM) solution.
These services will enable organizations to identify faulty date codes and in turn estimate costs necessary for year 2000 conversion projects. Included in the agreement is support for RPG II, RPG/400 and CL, AS/400 COBOL and CL.
Earlier this year, VIASOFT announced a multiple language support initiative as part of its ongoing corporate strategy to expand its year 2000 solutions and provide integrated impact and planning solutions for a variety of platforms and languages. The services agreement with IBS is the first of several agreements that VIASOFT will implement as part of that strategy.
As a validated, integrated component of VIASOFT's year 2000 solution, IBS Conversions' services will also be available to VIASOFT Solution Providers for implementation within their own solutions. IBS Conversions was chosen by VIASOFT because it met the stringent quality and performance criteria that VIASOFT establishes for its Solution Provider program.
"Since 1982, IBS has developed the conversion tools, the methodology and the expertise to help conversion projects in a variety of environments, including AS/400," said Steven D. Whiteman, president and chief executive officer of VIASOFT Inc.
"By establishing an alliance with IBS, we are able to expand our Enterprise 2000 solution even further and fulfill our ongoing commitment to provide customers with a full solution to their year 2000 problem," said Whiteman.
"Scanning software for faulty date codes is the first critical phase of year 2000 projects," said Dan Williams, president of IBS Conversions. "The ability to address a broad range of platforms will enable VIASOFT to ensure customers have the most comprehensive and accurate picture of their year 2000 impact."
IBS has four facilities around the U.S. that provide enterprise-wide, automated analysis of application programs. These facilities are located in Chicago, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Va., and Tampa, Fla. IBS has more than 1,000 employees to assist with conversion activities.
IBS Conversions Inc. founded in Chicago in 1982, is an industry expert in automated conversion software and consulting. IBS developed IBS/Solution 2000(TM), which is composed of proprietary date analysis and conversion tools, methodology, personnel and four off-site conversion centers to address the specific needs of companies requiring changes to date processing.
IBS offers year 2000 analysis training courses, available nationwide, to empower year 2000 project leaders to scope their year 2000 impact and define a solution. To learn more about IBS Conversions and its offerings, visit the Web site at http://www.ibs2000.com.
