The IntelliMotion service helps health care organizations quickly locate and track critical mobile medical equipment such as wheelchairs, infusion pumps and gurneys. As a result, health care providers can reduce delay in patient care and can increase employee productivity to significantly lower hospital costs. "Our member organizations are striving to improve productivity, operate more efficiently and maximize resources-all without sacrificing patient care," said K. Jeffrey Hayes, VHA's senior vice president for business operations. "IntelliMotion Asset Tracking Services can help members improve their business performance and enhance revenue while delivering better and more timely patient care." GE Medical's IntelliMotion Asset Tracking Services uses radio-frequency technology to track mobile assets, giving health care organizations real-time location data on each piece of equipment. Unlike simple bar-coding technologies that only record where a particular asset was last seen, IntelliMotion Asset Tracking Services provides continuous, real-time monitoring of any tagged asset throughout the coverage area in the facility. By simply viewing a monitor with a map display of the health care facility, customers will know the location of any tagged medical asset within 10 feet. This enables health care providers to quickly locate and re-deploy assets in the right place at the right time. By participating in VHA's agreement for IntelliMotion Asset Tracking Services, member organizations have the opportunity to significantly impact the operating cost in their hospitals. In four U.S. facilities where IntelliMotion Asset Tracking Services are in place, significant benefits have been realized: -- Up to 90 percent reduction in infusion pump infusion pump A device designed to deliver drugs and/or 'biologicals', at low doses and at a constant or controllable rate; ↑ rates of delivery in such devices may be associated with local hemolysis, compromising the potential benefits of a calibrated delivery rentals due to misplaced, lost or unusable equipment. -- Significant reduction in search times equal to two full-time employees dedicated to equipment search activities. -- Improved equipment logistics and utilization helping to reduce equipment shortages and optimize equipment contribution to the hospital's clinical and financial performance. "IntelliMotion is an exciting new technology that will allow VHA member hospitals to drive productivity within each department while lowering their operating costs," adds Paul Mirabella, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
