Shiel joined the senior tap dancers in January 1989 and has seen their numbers grow from only a few dancers to nearly 50. She has also taken part in many regional and national competitions in which the Boogie Woogie Mamas brought home gold and platinum awards. Not satisfied with just dancing, at age 73 Shiel has taken an active part in designing costumes and home decor accessories.
