VERTEQ ANNOUNCES EXPANSION & RELOCATION; ONE OF THE LARGEST LEASES IN ORANGE COUNTY THIS YEAR

 ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- VERTEQ, a long-time leader in the manufacturing of processing equipment for the semiconductor industry, announces its relocation from Anaheim to the Orange County Business Center in Santa Ana, Calif.
 This relocation will mark a 50 percent expansion for VERTEQ and is one of the largest leases executed in Orange County this year. The move will provide VERTEQ with 51,000 square feet of research and development, manufacturing, and office space.
 "This facility will enable us to continue to meet the specific and demanding equipment needs of our growing global customer base in the semiconductor industry," said Keith R. Norby, chairman and chief executive officer for VERTEQ.
 With distribution throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, VERTEQ has over two decades of equipment research and development and manufacturing experience in the semiconductor industry. The company had gross sales of $20 million last year.
 For the past five years VERTEQ has committed itself to expanding its research and development capabilities and its worldwide distribution network. Five new domestic sales representatives and two European distributors were added this year. All products are sold internationally through direct sales and independent marketing representatives. VERTEQ Inc. was founded in 1985 when two divisions of Fluorocarbon were purchased by an investment and an employee group. In 1989, the company acquired Advanced Cleaning Technology (ACT) for entry into the vapor drying equipment market. That same year, VERTEQ acquired Estek Inc. from Eastman Technology, a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Co. VERTEQ Inc. is a privately held company.
 The Orange County Business Center is located in an Enterprise Zone of Santa Ana, which offers a state-sponsored tax benefit program designed to reduce the cost of doing business and potentially increase job opportunities for the area. Represented by Jeff Chiate of Cushman & Wakefield Inc., the 10-year lease is estimated at $5.6 million. Birtcher is the property management company and OCTC Associates is the landlord for the entire Business Center.
 VERTEQ's new location will be conveniently located by the San Diego 405 and Newport 55 freeways, easily accessible to the John Wayne/Orange County Airport. The move will take place December 1993.
