STRATFORD, Conn. -- VERTEBRON Inc. (VERTEBRON) is proud to announce the release of the Small Stature Cervical Plate (SSP) System, its second cervical plate system release. The SSP cervical plate is designed for smaller stature patients providing a better anatomic fit for narrower vertebral bodies. The SSP utilizes the identical locking mechanism, implants and instruments as the Semi-Constrained Cervical Plate (SCP) System initial release. Some common system enhancements include self-drilling screws and streamlined instrumentation, requiring as few as three instruments, to simplify the surgical technique.

The SSP system incorporates many patent pending features, including an integrated self-locking mechanism and QuickSet instrumentation with a self-aligning trocar drill. The SSP system received its FDA clearance in October 2005 and has been used successfully in a number of surgeries to date within several domestic medical centers.

The Small Stature Cervical Plate, in addition to VERTEBRON's other cervical implants, including its Semi-Constrained Cervical Plate (SCP), Anterior Cervical Fusion (ACF) Allograft and Cervical Motion Preservation (CMP) device will be featured this week at the Cervical Spine Research Society meeting in San Diego, CA.
