Concert Band have been asking the group to perform an indoor concert for years, but it's never been able to find a suitable venue that is affordable to rent. That search ended when Tim Ben Boydston, director of the Canyon Theatre Guild, not only offered the guild's new theater in downtown Newhall but agreed to co-sponsor the concert scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday. The program will feature the 45-piece concert band performing big band favorites, Broadway show tunes and pop and rock classics with talented local singers. With a library containing 500 arrangements of music, the band is one of the most flexible musical groups in the area. Band members volunteer their time so funds can be used to purchase musical instruments, performance aids and musical arrangements. Today the band has 45 members ranging in age from their 20s to 70s. After weekly practices, the band performs about 16 concerts per year. Tickets to Saturday's concert are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
