VERSAR SUBSIDIARY AWARDED MAJOR CONTRACT FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES

SPRINGFIELD, Va., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Versar, Inc. (AMEX: VSR), announced the award of a contract to its subsidiary, Versar Architects and Engineers, Inc. (VA&E), to lead the design phase of a facility expansion program for Colorado Memory Systems (CMS), a newly acquired subsidiary of Hewlett Packard (NYSE: HWP). The contract, valued at $1.2 million, covers design of a new corporate headquarters and assembly plant to be built in Loveland, Colo.
Mark Swatek, president of VA&E said, "VA&E has put together a team of specialty subscontractors, including electrical, mechanical, interior design, food service, acoustical, and landscape, to augment VA&E's project management, architectural design, civil, and structural engineering and provide CMS with the quality product that they demand."
Ben Rawls, president and CEO of Versar, said: "VA&E specializes in the design of technical multi-purpose projects in which a variety of functional needs are incorporated into a single entity. CMS representatives and other users are actively involved in the design process, ensuring that the completed project represents the collective vision of the users rather than the architects alone."
Versar, Inc., headquartered in Springfield, is a publicly held, national environmental management company which provides a wide variety of scientific and technical services to help industry and government prevent pollution, manage environmental compliance, and solve environmental and health and safety problems caused by pollution, hazardous materials, and toxic substances.
