VERITAS also announced that the new version of NetBackup for Windows NT Server has now received BackOffice certification, ensuring safe, reliable interoperability with all features and functions of Windows NT and the BackOffice suite of applications.

NetBackup for High- and Low-end NT Customers

NetBackup is designed to meet the needs of a broad range of Microsoft NT customers. At the low end, NetBackup provides easy, automated installation and configuration for small businesses or workgroup computing environments. For large, distributed enterprise environments, NetBackup is easily customizable and configurable and supports a wide array of hardware.

The product also enables automated installation over distributed networks. Support for both Intel and Alpha hardware platforms Each hardware platform, or CPU family, has a unique machine language. All software presented to the computer for execution must be in the binary coded machine language of that CPU. Following is a list of the major hardware platforms in existence today. NetBackup for Windows NT Server includes several new features that increase the product's ability to solve the needs of both high and low-end customers. These features include: -0-
--   Windows GUI -- Intuitive, easy to use GUI follows Microsoft
     standards and easily fits into existing Windows NT environments.
     Because it looks and behaves like tools that users are familiar
     with, there is a very low learning curve when implementing the

--   Oracle 7 and Oracle 8 Support -- Using Oracle's OEBU and RMAN
     interfaces, NetBackup for Windows NT provides hot, on-line
     backups for databases while eliminating the need for downtime.
     Secure backups while maintaining data accessibility is a VERITAS
     standard.

--   Support for Microsoft Exchange and SQL -- Hot, on-line backups of
     Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server databases provide secure data
     capture without having to shut down the applications. Users
     maintain constant access to their critical data while being
     protected from a catastrophic data loss.

--   Windows 98 Client Support -- Support for Windows 98 clients
     ensures that NetBackup for Windows NT offers the broadest and
     most up-to-date support available.
