VERITAS Software Veritas Software Corp. was an international software company that was founded in 1983 as Tolerant Systems, renamed Veritas Software Corp. in 1989, and merged with Symantec in 2005. It was headquartered in Mountain View, California. Corporation and Network Appliance, Inc. announced the availability of an integrated application solution for Network Appliance's storage appliances. By integrating VERITAS Cluster Server Veritas Cluster Server (also known as VCS) is a High-availability cluster software, for Unix, Linux and Microsoft Windows computer systems, created by Veritas Software (now part of Symantec). with NetApp Filers running NetApp Clustered Failover software, customers can achieve continuous access to information at the application level and the data storage level, thus increasing the overall information availability for their business.

The software solution is an enterprise-class High Availability (HA) application for the Solaris, HPUX HPUX Hewlett-Packard Unix , and Windows NT (Q100) platforms. Support for other platforms will be added, as well. The product offers HA features, including scalability to 32 nodes, an API to create agents to provide uptime for virtually any application, a Java GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface. , and cascading and policy-based failover.
